Microsoft Office is one of the most widely used office applications in the world. The software package contains trendy tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. The newest package is Office 2019 and contains numerous new updates and functionalities. Countless users, however, continue to stick to the previous Office version: Office 2016. But is this wise? We are happy to tell you more about the differences between Office 2016 and Office 2019!
To start with, it is good to know that both Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019 are stand-alone version for which no monthly subscription fees have to be paid. This is in contrast to Office 365, for which you have to pay a fixed amount every month. So once you have purchased a Microsoft Office 2016 or Office 2019 license, you can continue to use the program endlessly. An advantage of Office 365 over Office 2019 and 2016, however, is that Office 365 receives continuous updates. This is not the case with the stand-alone versions of Microsoft Office.
Differences between Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019
As the name suggests, Microsoft Office 2019 was released about three years later than its predecessor Office 2016. In those years, there have been various (technological) updates resulting from which Office 2019 contains various new features and functionalities. These updates differ per application:
Office Word 2016 and 2019
Microsoft Word is by many the most used application within the Office package. There is a good chance that these updates and changes within this tool will stand out the most. To begin with, improvements have been made to the Text-to-speech section. This makes it easier to “type” using the speech tool. Furthermore, the Inking functionality has been improved within Office 2019. Create a shape using the “pen”, and the tool will then design a suitable graph or diagram.
Another useful update within Word 2019 is the addition of @-mentions. This feature works roughly the same as within apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Use an @-mention to tag a person to clear to them what needs to be done within the document.
Another common tool within Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019 is PowerPoint. Also, within this tool, you will find differences between the Office 2016 and 2019 version. A first update relates to the Zoom and Morph functions. The Morph function ensures improved, seamless transitions between different slides. With the Zoom feature’s help, you can make presentations more dynamic and lively within this Office 2019 app. Another major update within PowerPoint 2019 is the option to add and edit vector graphics. Besides, it is also possible to use @-mentions within PowerPoint 2019.
Microsoft Office Excel 2016 and 2019 differences
Microsoft Excel is an indispensable tool within every organization. You will discover differences between Excel 2016 and Excel 2019. For example, in Excel 2019, it is possible to use various new or improved functions such as MAXIFS, TEXTJOIN, CONCAT and SWITCH. Furthermore, completely new graphs and diagrams have been added. Another difference between Excel in Office 2016 and 2019 is that it is possible to use and edit SVG images and 3D models within the most recent version.
Other areas for improvement within Excel 2019 include the audio hints added, faster access to superscript and subscript, an improved “auto-complete”, and various new themes that have been added.
Differences Outlook 2016 and 2019
Outlook is the advanced e-mail application within the Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019 package. Outlook 2019 also contains various new functionalities and updates in this area. For example, it is beneficial to add the “Inbox with priority”. This gives your mailbox two tabs: Other and Priority. The most important messages are automatically located in the Priority mailbox, so you immediately know which things really matter. Moreover, it is possible to add multiple time zones to your Outlook calendar. This makes it easier to schedule appointments with people who are in different time zones.
Another difference between Office 2016 and 2019 is that you can also apply @-mentions here. Easily tag people in an email message and all recipients instantly. Besides, a frequently heard problem in Office 2016 was that reminders were invisible in Outlook. In Outlook 2019, this has been adjusted, and reminders will pop up at the desired moment.
System requirements Microsoft Office 2016 and 2019
New software usually also has other system requirements. New updates and features often require more computing power. However, the system requirements of Office 2016 and 2019 hardly differ. Almost every modern computer or laptop with Windows 10 can run both applications. Furthermore, the machine must have at least 2GB (32-bit) or 4GB (64-bit) RAM. Finally, your computer or laptop must have a GPU with DirectX9.
Upgrading from Office 2016 to 2019?
As you can see, there are several differences between Office 2016 and 2019. This means that the upgrade is worth it if you regularly use various applications of this software package. Do you want to upgrade yourself, or are you looking for a new Office license? Then choose the reliable and 100% legal Office licenses from SoftwareLicense4U. Your Office 2016 or Office 2019 key code will send by e-mail within 5 minutes.
Microsoft Office 2010 is a version of Microsoft Office for Microsoft Windows that was released to manufacturing on April 15, 2010, and was later made available to retail on June 15, 2010. As the successor to Office 2007 and Office 2013. The Mac OS X equivalent, Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, was released on October 26, 2010.
Office 2010 introduces user interface enhancements, including a Backstage view that consolidates document management tasks into a single location. The ribbon introduced in Office 2007 for Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word is the primary user interface for all Office 2010 and is now customizable.Collaborative editing features that enable multiple users.
Office 2007 made some headlines with its innovative ribbon menu system. Office 2010 takes it to another level with a more intuitive ribbon and, to my delight, a new home menu system. Instead of opening up a dropdown, the entire window changes colours and provides you with the save open, close, preview, and other options.
On top of this, the new home menu system provides detailed information on modifications, authors, file size, and permissions. There’s also a new print and print preview menu that definitely changes the layout most PC users. In short: the new menu is cleaner.
2. Deeper Multimedia Editing
Microsoft upped the multimedia editing options from its last iteration. Specifically, image editing gets a boost, and there’s now in-video editing within Microsoft PowerPoint. Screen captures and video cutting is now included. You can even remove backgrounds with the new Office.
In short: there’s just so much more that you can do. Though it won’t Photoshop, it makes creating and editing presentations a ton easier.
3. Real-time Collaboration and Communication
Not only is there communication in the upcoming web version, but the desktop version sports a real-time buddy list of sorts that shows what individuals are currently editing a document within 2010. You can see who’s online, who not, and who’s working on what. It’s a lot like Adobe’s Acrobat.com in that regard.
The new Office revamps author settings, restricted editing, and adds a “protected mode,” which stops you from accidentally editing a file you download until you enable it. Some will like this feature; others won’t. Restricted editing helps you pick who can collaborate.
5. Microsoft Office Web Apps
You didn’t think we could end a list like this without the biggest news of all, did you? Please make no mistake: Microsoft’s out to thwart potential rivals like Google Docs with its own online version of the software. We don’t quite know about all of its features, but with its piggy-backing on the world’s most popular document editing software, it’s certainly going to become popular very quickly.
So is the new Microsoft Office 2010 just a small improvement, or does it really crank out the features? The answer is a mixed bag – the focus is clearly on Office Web Apps this round, but they didn’t skimp on new features in the desktop version either.
6. Outlook improvements
Outlook is the Microsoft Office program I use most often. It’s the first application I fire up when I sit down at the computer in the morning. And it’s the last application I close when I shut down for the night. And I’m checking my mail and calendar and looking up contacts every 15 minutes (or more often) throughout the day. This makes changes to the Outlook interface essential to me.
I want it to work better, but I don’t want to relearn everything, and I don’t want to lose functionality. The Ignore button added to Outlook is just what those of us who belong to lots of email discussion lists have been waiting for. It allows you to get rid of conversation threads that you don’t want. Not only will it delete all messages in your Inbox that belong to the thread, but it will automatically delete any messages about that thread that comes in later.
7. Open in Protected View
When you open an existing document for the first time in Word 2010, you may be surprised to find that nothing happens if you try to start editing it. If you look more closely, you’ll see that the Ribbon is hidden. What’s up with that? The document has opened in Protected View.
8. Microsoft Office 2010 OneNote improvements
OneNote has been a bit of a forgotten stepchild in previous editions of Office, perhaps because it only came with the “lowest” and “highest” editions of Office 2007 — Home and Student edition and Ultimate edition. Most Office users have the Standard, Small Business, or Professional edition. Microsoft obviously wants to get more exposure for OneNote. According to early reports, Office 2010 features will follow the same pattern as Windows 7; that is, each successively more expensive edition will contain all the applications of those editions “below” it and more. That means OneNote will be available in all editions of Office 2010. The most obvious change to OneNote, as with Outlook, is that now it sports the Ribbon interface.
Office 2010 still has to go through a public beta (expected later this year) before seeing it in its final version, but what we see in the technical preview looks promising. Whether you’re using Office 2007 or you’re still using Office 2003, Office 2010 will offer enough new and improved features and functionality to make it worth considering the upgrade.
AVG TuneUp is an ideal utility tool for beginners and advanced users looking to improve their PCs’ performance and make routine maintenance simpler. Packed with basic features and advanced tools, the AVG TuneUp provides the perfect balance between standard functionalities and advanced tunings. It has all the standard features of decent tune-up software and much more sophisticated tools.
Let’s take a look all the important feature of AVG Tuneup:
AVG TuneUp not only cleans your PC but also speeds it up. The Automatic Maintenance feature ensures that you don’t have to take time out from your busy schedule to clean junk and unnecessary files from your PC. The feature cleans junk files, browser traces, cookies, cache files, and program leftovers to increase disk space and improve performance.2
Your PC takes a long time to boot because of the numerous programs that launch in the background at startup. AVG TuneUp makes sure to stop unnecessary programs and apps from launching at startup. The software not only makes your PC start up faster but also improves the launch speed of apps and games on your device.3
The improved Sleep Mode is an intuitive feature that monitors your computer’s performance and detects programs. The feature identifies apps, processes, and scheduled tasks running in the background and puts them to sleep. Sleep Mode can also wake up the sleeping programs when you need them. Once you have finished using the app or program, Sleep Mode will again put it to sleep to prevent resource-draining background activities.4
The Browser Cleaner tool removes online leftovers, temporary files, and other unnecessary data from browsers like Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Explorer to help you surf faster. The feature provides you with a lighter, faster, and bug-free browser experience.5
This feature deep cleans your hard drive to make space for necessary files and data. Moreover, deep Cleaner cleans your system thoroughly to remove caches, installer files, old backups, and temporary files. Among others, to free up space. While registry cleaning is no longer a headache with Windows 10, making it almost redundant, AVG still provides registry defragmentation and cleaning tool if ever you need them. In addition to your hard drive, the Deep Cleaner can also clean over 200 apps in your system.6
Nowadays, any decent tuning software offers the option to schedule cleaning, and AVG TuneUp is no different. AVG lets you schedule your PC and browser cleaning after a session or at the end of your day’s work. It is an effective mechanism that allows you to focus on your work while the program takes care of the cleaning tasks.7
A disk defragmentation tool is included in the Maintenance tab. While modern operating systems, especially Windows 10, do not require disk defragmentation and can do it themselves even if needed, AVG still includes this feature for users reluctant to search the control panel or settings for the defragmentation tool.8
AVG TuneUp File Recovery
AVG also lets you scan for and restore deleted files. While the scan was quite slow, it managed to find an incredible number of recoverable files.9
The new Software Updater checks installed your PC programs for any outdated versions and informed you when any program needs to be updated. It supports updates for over 50 apps and automatically searches the system for any necessary action. You can update applications with just one click.10
AVG provides excellent support via helpful in-app prompts, a detailed help file, and FAQs. For further help, you can turn to the live chat or dedicated phone line. You can also get technical support from the company’s experts. AVG provides one of the most efficient and fast customer support services.
User review websites provide a clearer understanding of a company or product. Moreover, these sites contain reviews from real users who have used the product or the company’s other services. To check how AVG fares in real users’ opinions, I checked out a few user review sites like SiteJabber and Trustpilot.
AVG Technologies earned 1.9 stars out of a possible 5 from 2536 user reviews on Trustpilot, making its performance in the eyes of users poor. However, as the rating meter showed, 83% of users rated its services and products as excellent. Numerous users praised the company’s top-notch antivirus software, TuneUp software, and exceptional customer service. However, Windows 10 users also said that they have been using AVG TuneUp on their PCs.
On SiteJabber, the company earned 2.32 out of 5 stars from 44 reviews. Easy transaction, prompt customer service, and efficient free trials were among the positive highlights from the user reviews. Some users complained about the difficulty to uninstall AVG applications and the limited capabilities of the antivirus program.
Google Trends analyzes the interest in top search terms in Google Search across different regions and time frames. The website portrays the search volume of different keywords over time in graphs to provide a comparative study with related or competing terms. So, I used Google Trends to study the interest in such terms as ‘AVG Technologies’ and ‘AVG PC TuneUp’ in the USA over the past 12 months.
AVG TuneUp is a capable PC cleaning and tuning software application. It is more than capable of improving your computer’s performance. While using TuneUp, I managed to clean close 1 GB of junk and free up nearly 3 GB of disk space, too. It is a relatively new computer. Compared to the Advanced SystemCare by IObit, AVG’s product lacks quite a lot of features. Still, it ensures that it includes visible functionality, unlike certain tools in the SystemCare. The program is highly reliable as AVG is a part of the Avast family.
Microsoft Google Drive and OneDrive are the two most popular cloud storage services out there. Although they essentially offer the same service.
While Google Drive has a consumer-first focus approach and, OneDrive’s consumer base is focused on enterprises. That goes a long way towards explaining why Google follows a cloud-only model. And why Microsoft has one foot in the cloud and one on the desktop.
In reality, Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive are two sides of the same coin. However, the outcomes will always differ, each having a unique impact on every business, including yours.
Both Google and Microsoft have a free plan with a limited amount of cloud storage. The free plans are good enough for most users who use the cloud to store or back up photos and documents. Google Drive offers 15GB of free storage, which is significantly higher than OneDrive’s 5GB. But the Goo_gle Drive storage is used for all of Google’s services, including Gmail. It means you could run out of storage faster than you expect.
If you need more storage, Google charges $2 per month or $20 per year for 100GB cloud storage. If you want 200GB, it’s going to cost $3 per month or $30 per year. Google’s 2TB plan costs $10 per month or $100 per year. The 10TB plan costs $100 per month, and the 20TB plan will set you back by $200 per month. It’s worth pointing out you can extend Google’s storage to other people in your Google Family.
OneDrive is relatively more expensive, mainly because Microsoft uses a different pricing strategy. The Redmond-based software giant has bundled OneDrive into the Microsoft Office subscription. The Office 365 Home costs $100 per year. It gives you access to Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Publisher for PC along with 1TB of OneDrive storage.
The different approaches used by OneDrive and Google Drive.
The Pros of OneDrive
The main benefits of Microsoft OneDrive are:
Collaboration on-the-go The free OneDrive mobile application helps businesses upload, edit and share files without being chained to one’s desktop. This level of real-time collaboration helps businesses boost productivity without adding to expensive overheads.
Integrated ecosystem OneDrive allows users to use a host of Microsoft Office apps such as Word, PowerPoint, etc. It features a web version as well as a desktop version, enabling online and offline working effortlessly.
The Cons of OneDrive
The main disadvantages of Microsoft OneDrive are:
Lack of third-party app integration Currently, OneDrive for Business does not support third-party app integrations. Users cannot sync business accounts with non-Microsoft apps such as calendars, message boards and project management platforms.
Microsoft cannot protect your data. While Microsoft offers protection against infrastructure threats like hardware and software failure, power outages and natural disasters, it does not protect data at your end from human error, illegitimate deletion, program/sync errors, malicious insiders, malware and ransomware.
Collaboration made easy Shareability and real-time editing features offered by Google Drive has taken personal and professional collaboration to the next level. Share documents, spreadsheets and other content types with colleagues, family and friends with ease.
Idiot-proof user interface Due to its intuitive UI, Goo_gle Drive aces it when it comes to usability. Its efficient built-in search engine is a highlight, allowing users to search files by type and owner.
The Cons of Google Drive
The main disadvantages of Google Drive are:
Collaboration limited to Gmail. Shareability and real-time editing don’t fare well if the recipient holds a non-Google account. The recipient needs access permission before he or she can view the content, and even then, no editing is permitted whatsoever.
Google cannot protect your data. Google has best-in-class security against infrastructure threats like hardware and software failure, power outages and natural disasters. However, it offers no data protection at your end from human error, illegitimate deletion, program/sync errors, malicious insiders, malware and ransomware.
What is the Difference Between Google Drive And OneDrive?
Here are the key different between Google Drive and OneDrive:
OneDrive and Google Drive perform at the same level when it comes to speed. The difference arises when you deal with Microsoft native files that support block-level copying, where a file is broken into smaller packages. Only changes to the file are uploaded to the cloud as opposed to the entire file. As a result, data transfers take less time.
However, if you use Google productivity apps, block-level copying technology has no real benefit to offer, with both Goo_gle Drive and OneDrive functioning at par.
OneDrive and Google Drive are used to store files and file syncing, sharing, and retrieving. The ease of file sharing is a crucial factor when choosing cloud storage because it shows the scope of team collaboration.
Generally, there are two ways to share files using OneDrive or Google Drive. You can share files through a shareable link or by entering someone’s email address to give them access. Google users can assign three tiers of permissions: view, comment and edit. On the other hand, OneDrive, with the help of SharePoint servers, offers more user permission options.
To sync files across all devices, OneDrive and Google Drive users must download the following apps: OneDrive desktop and Backup and Sync.
While installing these apps, you will need to set up a folder on your device from your OneDrive or Google Drive account. Users can access any files on that folder from anywhere at any time.
If there’s one thing Google Drive fans or OneDrive enthusiasts can agree on, it’s data privacy concerns. Google has notoriously been guilty of collecting user information for targeted advertising. On the other hand, Microsoft has the right to scan through users’ data for any objectionable content. Of course, none of these tactics is harmful, but the thought of a stranger sifting through your data isn’t particularly comforting.
If you want maximum cloud storage for the price, Goo_gle Drive is the way to go. Its plans are relatively cheaper, and Google Drive integrates well with other Google services. Microsoft’s OneDrive is for people who use its Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. The Personal Vault also gives OneDrive an edge over Goo_gle Drive in terms of security. It would be best to try out both the free plans to decide which one is better for your needs.

NordVPN is a virtual private network (VPN) service, provider. It has desktop applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux, mobile apps for Android and iOS, and Android TV. Manual setup is available for wireless routers, NAS devices and other platforms.
NordVPN is based in Panama, as the country has no mandatory data retention laws and does not participate in the Five Eyes or Fourteen Eyes alliances.
NordVPN is headquartered in Panama, which is significant for VPN services, although not usually important for most service providers. Panama has no data retention laws, and its government does not (as far as we know) carry out Internet surveillance. This means that legally, NordVPN does not need to retain logs of its users’ activities – great for your privacy!
In addition to their great location for privacy, NordVPN also uses superior encryption standards. Like all top-tier VPN service providers around, they use 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
Wait – there’s more – To further protect your privacy, NordVPN uses PGP keys in customer contact and protects your account details. You can use PGP keys to encrypt communications between you and NordVPN and are practically unbreakable.
Kill-switch: They have two different kinds of kill-switches: a user can now choose whether to close a particular app or completely terminate the Internet connection in case of unexpected dropout (system-wide kill-switch).
2. Kill Switch Prevents Privacy Compromise
If you’re wondering what might happen if your connection to a NordVPN server goes down, then the Kill Switch is your answer. If a NordVPN server drops your connection, this feature brings all your Internet communications to a screeching halt.
There are two versions of NordVPN, depending on your platform. The Windows or Mac version allows you to choose what apps stop communicating if something happens, while the mobile app version stops everything.
All of this serves to prevent data leakage.
3. Double The Protection With Double VPN
By now, you’ll be familiar with the basic concepts of VPNs, so let’s talk about something additional the NordVPN comes with, and that’s Double VPN. By linking together two VPN servers, you’re essentially getting an additional layer of protection.
Your computer/device first connects to one VPN server, connecting to a second VPN server before finally getting to your desired destination. This way, your destination IP goes through two changes and your data gets encrypted twice as well. Like I said, double the protection!
With over 5,000 servers in 59 countries, there’s no doubt that NordVPN is one of the larger VPN service providers out there today. With any network as massive as this, there are bound to be some underperform locations compare to others.
However, as you can see in our earlier speed tests, most of the core areas in strategic global locations were fine. If you connect to a server that doesn’t perform as you feel it should, I am certain there is a better alternative nearby. Just see which one works best for you.
Almost a full half of NordVPN’s servers are from the US. Still, for geo-locked content, that’s where most of the good stuff is, plus with that many servers, Asia still does well.
For most of us, we can expect to be using a VPN on a few devices at a time. At the very least on one computer and a mobile device. Some are device-crazy and have a computer, laptop, two smartphones, two tablets, and goodness knows what else.
NordVPN caters for all, and it supports up to six simultaneous connections at a time per account. This means you can secure all your devices individually and throw them on your router for good measure.
A good number of platform types are supported, so whatever you have, it’s likely to be fine. The only exception is when it comes to routers, as those are more finicky.
I tried out five different geographic locations. While I noticed the usual increasing ping time the further away I got from my physical locations, overall speeds were very impressive. My tests were conducted on a 500 Mbps line, from which I regularly get above 450 Mbps throughput.
NordVPN has so far always surpassed our expectations in terms of speed performance. In the five core regions that I tested them for, speeds were generally high, and there was little to no additional latency while using NordVPN.
YouTube streaming for 2k and 4k HD was fine as well; the was also smooth and painless. I was able to stream 4k videos without any problems at all. However, do note that there are some areas with weak speeds.
7. Cryptocurrencies And CASH Accepted As Payment
I’m not interested in VPN’s if they accept payment by cheque, credit card or bank draft even, but I am impressed that aside from cryptocurrency, NordVPN accepts cash payments in some locations. If you’re living in the US, you can pay by cash at Fry’s Electronics or Micro Center.
For cryptocurrencies, the company accepts three kinds – Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple.
These two methods of payment are important because they are untraceable. After all, your privacy is why you’re looking for a VPN provider, right?
The thing about Netflix is that it seems to hate users who use VPNs to try and get around regional content restrictions. The company tries to block VPN users, and NordVPN realises this and constantly works to help its users access Netflix content.
In fact, it maintains an entire page that has instructions on how you can access regional content. The instructions change from time to time, so if you find that you’re having Netflix issues while using NordVPN, remember to check that page!
Microsoft offers Windows 10 in two versions: Home and Professional. It’s easy to understand on a conceptual level what this means. Pro is for people to use at work, and Home is for personal machines. But what’s the real difference? Let’s take a look at Windows 10 Home vs 10 Pro.
Knowing your operating system’s needs helps your decision between Win_dows 10 Home versus Microsoft Win__dows 10 Pro. So, if you’re a home user, Win-dows 10 Home will take care of your computing needs. But if you need complex features, such as a network domain or the ability to manage group policies on several computers (such as a small office), Microsoft Win_dows 10 Pro has these advanced features to make management easy and centralized.
However, if your networking needs are less complicated or you have a single computer, Win_dows 10 Home should be sufficient for an operating system. However, if you’re on a budget, the lower price should help. If you find out later that you need more advanced features, Microsoft charges $99 to upgrade rather than buying a new license.
Remote desktop support requires a third-party app.
Requires a third-party app for a virtual desktop.
Win_dows Store for home use.
Updates occur through Windows Update
Windows 10 Pro
Enterprise Mode Internet Explorer.
Group policy management.
Enterprise state roaming with Azure Active Directory.
Update for Business.
Shared PC configuration.
The bottom line is Microsoft Windows 10 Pro offers more than its Win_dows Home counterpart, which is why it’s more expensive. There’s nothing Win_dows 10 Home can do that Pro can’t. These operating systems are largely the same.
The difference is based on whether the license you activate is for Home or Pro. You may have done this before, either when installing Win_dows or setting up a new PC for the first time. During the setup, you reach a point where you enter a 25-character Product ID (license key).
Based on that key, Win_dows makes a set of features available in the OS. The features average users need are present in Home. Pro offers more features, but this refers to the built-in functions of Win_dows, and many of these functions are tools used only by system administrators. So, what are these additional features in the Pro version, and do you need these features?
Security: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Has Additional Security Features
Windows 10 Home
Requires a third-party app purchase for encryption.
Windows 10 Pro
Built-in encryption (BitLocker) and management.
Microsoft Win_dows Information Protection
Windows 10 home & Pro Management Features:
Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Windows updates occur through Win_dows Update.
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Group policy management.
Enterprise state roaming with Azure Active Directory.
Win_dows Store for Business.
Shared PC configuration.
Windows Update for Business.
Some Microsoft Windows 10 Pro advantages won’t be as important to the personal computing enthusiast. Nonetheless, it’s worth knowing some of the business-focused functions you’d pay for if you upgraded to Pro:
1. Enterprise State Roaming with Azure Active Directory: This allows users to synchronize important settings and application info across devices through the Microsoft Azure cloud. This doesn’t include documents and files but rather how the machine is configured.
2. Windows Store for Business: This is like the consumer-facing Windows Store, except this one allows business users to purchase apps at volume. They can also manage those purchases or subscriptions for all users in the organization.
3. Assigned Access: Assigned Access allows administrators to create a kiosk out of a PC, meaning users can only access a single app, typically a web browser.
4. Dynamic Provisioning: In the past, getting a new PC ready to use within an organization was a big undertaking. Administrators needed to enable and disable features, set up the user and device on the corporate domain, and install applications. Dynamic Provisioning allows the admin to create a profile on a USB drive. When starting a new machine, the admin inserts the drive and the PC auto-configures with whatever the admin desires.
5. Windows Update for Business: This is also an enterprise-focused counterpart to Windows Update. It allows admins to control the updates, such as when and how PCs to update.
6. Shared PC Configuration: A mode suited to setting up more than one individual on a PC, such as temporary workers.
7. Take a Test:Like the above-mentioned Shared PC and Assigned Access setups, Take a Test is focused on the educational market and allows users to sign in to take an exam.
You’ll need to choose between Home and Pro when you buy a computer or buy a Windows copy in a store or online. Take a moment to give it some thought before you make your purchase, for two reasons:
Price: If you go with Home, you’ll pay $139 if you buy from Microsoft. Pro is $199. However, if you want to upgrade Home to Pro later, it’s $99—making your total cost $238. Going the upgrade route is more expensive in the long run.
Upgrading from Home to Pro: On the other hand, upgrading from Home to Pro is straightforward. When you upgrade, the Pro license supersedes the Home license.
If you plan to use the machine for business purposes at some point, or if you’re not concerned about cost, go with Windows 10 Pro. However, if you don’t believe you need Pro’s enterprise features, your best bet is to get Windows 10 Home.
Microsoft Project has helped project managers track progress, assign tasks, manage resources, and perform other similar tasks. Originally released as a web-based application but soon adapted for PC use. Microsoft Project features specifically designed tools to help you work on various projects from scratch. It includes support for project planning stages, resource collection and development, budget setting and analysing, and project tracking.
There are lots of useful Microsoft Project features that help you work more productively. Let’s take a closer look at some of them.
1) Microsoft Project Planning and Scheduling
Planning and scheduling arguably constitute the most important stage of Microsoft project management. They form the backbone of the entire project and can either make or break the whole thing.
What does this stage entail? For starters, it specifies how and when it should complete each task. Then, these tasks are assigned to various team members and allocated any necessary resources. This makes the entire process smooth and transparent, with everyone aware of their duties and responsibilities. This is precisely what Microsoft Project is good at. It utilizes the following to ensure accurate project management:
1. Prioritization: Helps you prioritize your project’s tasks, eliminating surprises and allowing your team to focus on addressing the most important matters first.
2. Task management: Allows project managers to define the activities involved in the project and decide how they should be assigned to different members.
3. Team calendar: Having a shared team calendar is a real blessing, as it ensures that all team members are on the same page at all times. Your team members will get notifications for upcoming meetings and events and synchronize their work schedules for a more efficient workflow.
This is one of the best features of the Microsoft Project. When working on a project, you obviously want to have everything in one place and keep all schedules synced. But what happens when you need someone independent of the project team to track your progress and check on how you’re doing?
The answer lies in Microsoft Project’s timeline view. This beautifully presents the whole project with a top-down view of the entire work. For instance, if you plan to present the project to your stakeholders, management, or partners, you can easily preview what they would see from their perspective using the project timeline view.
How can you add value to the timeline view? For starters, you can make some formatting changes. It can change the colours of the project phases. The project can align tasks and also can adjust various other formats. The process is rather simple. All you have to do to add something to your timeline is right-click on the task and select the option to add it. You can modify the formatting to fit an e-mail, presentation, and so on.
Collaboration is an essential part of any project. Each activity involves lots of people, so you’d ideally like to connect all of them on a common platform so you can easily share information. How is collaboration achieved in all of this? Let’s find out.
• File sharing: Microsoft Project allows you to share files with other members of your team. This helps you ensure all members have any relevant documentation to work on the project with minimal interruptions.
• Team dashboard: A team dashboard is crucial, as it offers an overview of the most important information and statistics relevant to your project. With the help of this Microsoft Project feature, you can actually add multiple graphs, charts, data presentations, and other graphics. This will help make your work more organized, lively, and visual. It also helps with team allocation and resource management. The dashboard is handy during meetings and presentations, as it essentially serves as a project KPI report.
• Sharing client data: Often, simply managing your own information is not sufficient for a project’s success. You also need to work on customer data and keep it safely stored. This information should be accessible to all members involved in the project to help guide their work.
Reporting is one of the most important means of tracking a project’s progress, as it allows you to monitor how much work has been completed and how much remains. Fortunately, Microsoft Project excels at this task, allowing you to generate great reports with little effort. . Best of all, you can even customize the data and the structure according to your requirements. The features include burndown reports, an overview of the entire project on one page, the conditions of available resources and their utilization; a cost overview; a list of pending tasks; and a list of targets achieved and any upcoming goals.
With all these features, you can build a custom report that addresses your team’s needs. Once you have all the information you’d like to present on hand, the only thing you have to do is pull up the reporting interface, choose the parameters you wish to include, and you’re done!
5) Microsoft Project Resource Management
Microsoft Project offers project managers a great deal of flexibility in managing project resources and availability. A project’s resources could be monetary (such as the allocated budget), the people involved (team members), meeting and workrooms, raw materials, and much more. Obviously, a project will come with certain limitations on the number of resources that it can use. Microsoft Project’s resource management tools help you track and monitor all available resources and the potential ways to use them for your project(s). The project management tool also lets you assign costs to individual resources, allowing you to analyze later whether certain valuable resources are being overused, underused, and so on.
Every project is unique and has its own resource requirements. This tool allows you to properly assign and order your tasks based on resource availability and demand, with the added option of committing specific resources full time or part-time, as needed. With this facility, you can also create a pool of resources and tap into them to complete tasks as your project comes together.
6) Multiple Projects
Microsoft Project also allows project managers to work on multiple projects on the same platform, making it easier to deal with different projects in the same company or team. The Master Project Plan defines this. Basically, when you’re working with many different project plans, you can combine all of them to form one master plan to use as you move forward. This proves extremely beneficial to project managers, especially if they are juggling multiple projects at once.
You can customize every aspect of a single project tool to form a master project, be it resource allocation, project planning, or progress tracking. Even reporting is made easy with the help of multiple dashboards. You can put this to good use during meetings and presentations.
7) Different Views
Microsoft Project is quite a unique project management tool in that it offers several different views. For instance, you can make use of a Gantt Chart, a resource usage chart, a calendar, and much more. Essentially, it allows a manager to view the project from different perspectives and representations, all from one platform. But the best aspect of this feature is that all of these views can be customized together according to the project requirements and combined to form one big project plan.
Microsoft Project features many more tools, all of which are geared toward project management. With its planning, scheduling, resource allocation, progress tracking, and presentation tools, Project is the ideal package for project managers. This is because it streamlines your projects and helps you stay on track to project success. The program is available in the two forms of Standard and Professional, the latter being the more popular choice.
Spotify has become one of the world’s largest streaming services, with more than 155 million active users. Every day about 60,000 songs are added to an already giant catalogue of 20 million songs. It’s hands down the best way to listen to music right now. Use these Spotify tips and tricks to make your experience even better.
Top 15 cool Tips and Tricks of Spotify :
1. Organize your playlists in folders
If you’ve been using Spotify for a while, you’ve likely amassed a huge jumble of playlists in your sidebar. Folders can help you sort your songs and keep your music neat looking. The fact that folders allow you to listen to all the playlists makes them even more of a must-use feature.
To create a folder, go to File > New Playlist Folder or use the keyboard shortcut Control + Shift + N (Command + Shift + N on a Mac).
2. Make an empty playlist called “-” to make a divider
Ever find yourself sifting through tons of playlists and wish that Song could separate them? The solution is simple. Just make a new, empty playlist called “-” and Spotify will create a divider. So, this tip is a great way to keep your playlist area tidy and easy to navigate.
3. Use Spotify’s audio visualizer
This little easter egg adds a visual element that changes and evolves while you listen to music—type “Spotify:app: visualizer” in the search bar to be brought to the app. You can select different generators in the top bar of the page. My favourite is “Globe Normals”, but they’re definitely all worth checking out.
4. Follow your favorite artists
Spotify has a nifty follow feature available for every artist in their catalogue. Spotify will automatically send you notifications when you follow an artist when the band releases new tracks or albums. If the artist uses Spotify, then when you follow them, you’ll be able to see what they’re listening to in the sidebar to the right.
5. Easily share Spotify music with drag and drop
If you ever want to share a song in an email or IM, drag and drop it into the text area. Then Spotify will do all the linking and typing for you.
You’ve been able to create playlists on mobile devices for a while, but AI-backed “assisted playlisting” uses machine learning for more customized playlists. When you create a new playlist, the Spotify app will analyze the words you input as the playlist name to give you song recommendations. As you add songs to the playlist, the app changes the recommendations in real-time to give you more tailored suggestions based on the songs you’ve already added.
7. Organize Playlists in Folders
Not only can you organize tracks into playlists, but you can organize the playlists into playlist folders. On the desktop, select the three-dot menu on the top left and select File > New Playlist Folder. A new folder will appear below in the left-hand column. Give it a name, and then you can drag other playlists in and out of these collapsible folders. Notice .that clicking on the folder will show all the sub-playlists’ tracks. You can even nest folders inside other folders.
8. Discover and Save
Do you need new tunes? The Browse and Radio functions on the top left of the desktop are a good place to start. Every Monday, Spotify will also add a new crop of 30 songs to your Discover Weekly playlist. Moreover, Spotify robots select songs based on your listening habits. Find it under Browse > Discover on desktop; favourite it to have it show up under Playlists. On mobile, tap Home and scroll down to Made for [your username]. However, if you find something, be sure to save it, as Discover Weekly is replaced with a new playlist each week. Right-click or tap the three-dot icon and select Add to Playlist.
Spotify introduced apps to their desktop applications in December 2011. Since then, a ton of apps have found their place on the platform. A lot of them are actually quite cool. You can use last—FM to find similar artists, Pitchfork to get album reviews, Tunewiki for lyrics, and more. Head over to the App Finder to check some of them out.
10. Spotify search better with modifiers
Much in the same way as Google, Spotify has search modifiers to help you find music quicker. Here are some of the best modifiers:
You can also exclude results with the above modifiers by typing NOT before what you want to exclude. For example, “NOT year:1970-2000” would exclude all songs released in the years 1970-2000.
11. Daily Mixes
Maybe no feature is more indicative of Spotify’s push into personalization than Daily Mixes, which serve up always-changing playlists based on previous listening, as well as songs you’ve favourited or added to playlists, usually grouped by genre. It’s a good mix of music you already know you like and a built-in discovery mechanism to stumble across new jams. So, if you’re a Spotify Free user, Daily Mix playlists have unlimited skips on mobile. Look for Made For You on the left-hand menu on desktop and Made for [your name] on mobile on the Home tab.
If you have Spotify Premium, you can download any podcasts, albums, or playlists (not individual songs) and listen offline. On the desktop, go to the content you want to download and toggle the Download button on the top right to on. Once a playlist is downloaded, you’ll see a green arrow next to it indicating that you can listen offline. On mobile, tap the downward-facing arrow; for playlists, you can also select the three dots and tap Download. To preserve data, go to Settings > Audio Quality > Download Using Cellular and check that the feature is off. This way downloads only happen when you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
13. Import your own local music
Sure, Spotify has more than 20 million songs in their catalogue, but there are still a few tracks missing. You can import your own local music from the “Local Files” section in the Preferences menu. To get to it on a PC, go to Edit > Preferences or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P. On Mac, please find it in Spotify > Preferences or the keyboard shortcut Command +. Hit “Add Source” to add any folders that have the music you’re looking for.
14. Share a song from a specific time
Ever wanted to share a specific part of a song with someone? Just type “#0:00” after the Spotify URI and replace the 0:00 with the time you want the song to start at. For example: Spotify:track:6vSq5q5DCs1IvwKIq53hj2#0:55. Now paste that into the search bar in your Spotify app!
15. Use keyboard shortcuts to get around faster
Spotify comes with a bunch of keyboard shortcuts to make your life easier. Here are some of my favorites:
Ctrl-Right to go to the next track.
Ctrl-Alt-Enter to go to the artist of the selected row.

Windows Server has been declared and has already been created and available. However, there are many editions available for Windows Server. This isn’t very clear, and selecting the correct choice may not be easy. If you’re confused and looking out for the simplest choices for each of the individual editions’ simplest options, we might assist you during this venture.
Windows Server Essentials edition is specially designed for short businesses. Essentials edition will be best if you have not more than 25 users. So, you can either opt for a remote or a physical, bare-metal server.
This edition is designed to work with 25 users, and you will not be able to work with more than 20 users. Moreover, you would need a few users, which would include system applications and processes. The Win-dows Ser_ver Essentials consider the new age version of the Win_dows Small Business Ser_ver (SBS) products.
Essential System has access to all the features like MS Exchange, and Active Directory resides on a single physical system. But his sort of setup and configuration will not be in tune with the best practices followed by Microsoft. However, Microsoft recommends having each of those systems on different, dedicated servers or VMs.
The features offered :
25 users and 50 devices limit you.
The edition is best suited for little businesses.
You can access the Azure Site Recovery service.
But, some tight features offered by the platform would include
Standard version specially created for small and medium-sized businesses. But unlikley, the Essentials plan explained in the above discussion. The Standard edition is best for those looking for more than 20 users or those enterprises.
Windows server standard edition will be a little difficult to understand if you are looking to license Win_dows Ser_ver 2019 properly. You would need to buy the operating system first and then opt for the requisite number of CALs based on your exact needs.
Moreover, this edition comes with a 16 core license pack and an additional Client Access Licences (CALs). You would find similar applications and resources like those on the Essentials edition. The only difference you would see in this edition would be that it is best suited for a business with more than 25 users and 50 devices.
The main difference between the two editions of Windows Server is that they only have different user requirements. So, these are easy to work with the businesses as per the discussion above.
The primary difference is just that Win_dows Ser_ver Essentials can use with 25 clients. However, the standard version does not have any such limitations. Moreover, the edition depends upon the number of Client’ access licenses or CALs.
Windows Server Essentials edition comes with a single license with enough CALs that offer you access to up to 25 users or 50 devices. It is available at a lower price range. So, you can able to run almost all applications from within the UI.
Most probably, we will not find the Essentials edition for the future generations of Windows Server. The Windows Server Essentials would be the last option. Moreover, from next year onwards, you would only find Standard or Datacentre editions only.
If you have a small business, you can opt for other solutions like Microsoft 365 or similar other services.
The comparison table chart for the best features offered by Windows Server Essentials and Standard.
Windows Essentials Server
Windows Standard Server
Microsoft Windows Server Functionality
Windows Server with Hyper V
Windows Server containers without Hyper-V
Windows Server CALs
After looking at the features and the functionalities offered by each of those options, it would be smarter to go with Windows Server Standard editions. However, if you have a small business or a medium one, the Essentials edition had its own advantages. It does not need more than 25 users, things have changed considerably. Windows Essential edition has just remained a poor shadow of what had once been Windows Server Essentials.
Those were a few details into the significant differences between Windows Server Essentials and Standard. But do note that this would perhaps be the last version you would find the Essentials edition on Win_dows Ser_ver. Next year, you would either need to go with the other cloud products or choose the older Server versions.
The ability of Win_dows Ser_ver has been deprecated to a considerable extent. So, when you compare it to the Server 2016 Essentials. Having understood that, we would suggest you opt for the Server Standard itself no matter whether you require fewer than 25 users or even more than that. Unless budget is not a considerable constraint for you, choose to go with Standard edition, thanks to the additional features and functions that it tends to provide you.

2. Stay in sync
Our Office 365 tips and tricks offer the answer to staying in sync — no matter what different time zones employees are in. Having various versions of documents saved to different places can lead to major business inefficiencies. Whether it’s a group document or an individual project, multiple file versions can cause unnecessary confusion and stress. More than one version of a ‘final copy’ may even appear — this means more last-minute work for your team as they scramble to make sure one version has all the correct edits before submitting or presenting the project.
Using Office 365 and SharePoint means that everyone will be working on the same document. With Office 365, updates always being flagged and saved so that the final version is the same across the board and no edits are missed. This also cuts out the middle man (in this case, email). You go back and forwards emailing the document and risk a copy getting lost along the way or coworkers accidentally downloading an outdated file attachment.

Ever spent way too much time manually checking a file for updates? Or have you been reading from a file mid-meeting only to realise Office 365 had updated it since you last went over it? 4. Microsoft Office 365 Disable old accounts
Office 365 encourages your team to be collaborative and functional. However, it’s important not to get lazy when it comes to account management and risk jeopardising information and document security. Who wants an unnecessarily cluttered system, anyway!?
Even small-to-medium-sized businesses need to ensure streamlined user-account management. Remember always to disable the accounts of past employees, even if they left on great terms. This ensures company documents can only be accessed by those currently working there and who hold the correct permissions. Also, remove all dormant accounts, such an old account of current staff members. They’re just taking up unnecessary space and cluttering the network.

Assigning this current license to a new person will save money in new license costs. If you make a mistake and need to reactivate an account, it can be restored for 30 days after being removed.
Microsoft Office 365 Excel Tips
6. Learn the keyboard shortcuts
It’s often second nature for your employees to use shortcuts when working in Word or PowerPoint. They may not realise, however, just how many useful shortcuts Excel has to offer. This is why it’s on our list of Office 365 tips and tricks. Excel keyboard shortcuts save time (less staring at spreadsheets!) and make using and navigating Excel that much simpler. This is a Godsend for those of us who find spreadsheets a bit intimidating. Shortcuts can be handy for employees who have limited mobility or vision impairments, as they won’t have to navigate a mouse or touchscreen constantly. There is a list on Microsoft of all the Excel shortcuts, which is a handy link to direct your employees.
7. Visualise your data
Different people prefer reading data in different formats. For some, big data may be hard to navigate, and graphs really help to break this up. While the office cannot put everything in a graph, you may want to use a Data Bar to set out Excel data visually. Easily add a data bar to an existing table by selecting the data and cells you’d like to generate a bar for. Then navigate to Home, Conditional Formatting, and Data Bars. You’ll then be asked to choose between a gradient fill or colour fill. This is an easy, simple way to make your Excel documents visually appealing. It also draws attention to important information.
8. Use the Status Bar
The Status Bar appears at the bottom of your Excel spreadsheet when you highlight a range of numbers. You can see information about the sum, average, and total number count. Many of us know the Status Bar is there, but not how useful it is. For example, you can actually add even more features to the Status Bar as you work on the document. Do you want to see the minimum and maximum values in the range you’ve highlighted? Just add it to the Status Bar! To add more features to the Status Bar, right-click it. This can save precious time trying to find the information as needed when working on a document. It will be right in front of you.

10. Convert a note in OneNote to items in your calendar
Next up in our line of Office 365 tips and tricks is that Office OneNote lists can easily transform OneNote lists into a series of tasks within your calendar, complete with deadlines and reminder notifications. You can also convert OneNote items into meetings in your calendar, so you never miss an important date. 11. Never miss a meeting again
Office 365 tips and tricks are not limited to the organisation of documents, with appointments, emails, and contacts all synced with Exchange Online. For small-to-medium businesses, the best Outlook tip to guarantee you’re getting the most out of this synchronisation is to send all recipients updates. This will ensure everyone sees the same view of the meeting and no lines are crossed, such as people skipping updates they think they’ve already viewed. If you’re not the event organiser, make sure that you get into the habit of accepting or declining every meeting invitation, not just deleting them, in case there are any changes.
12. Microsoft Office 365 Quicker, better performance
While Outlook is running, it will synchronise all of your calendars across your devices. To improve performance, move any shared calendars that aren’t used much to the Other Calendars folder. Limiting the calendars in your My Calendars folder results in a streamlined experience and fast performance. These may be the simplest yet most effective, Outlook tips yet!
13. Recall an email after pressing send
At some point, we’ve all hit Send only to realise the email was sent to the wrong person, was missing an attachment, or had errors. An absolute favourite of our Office 365 tips and tricks is the ability to get that email back before the recipient sees it. To recall an erroneously sent email, open the Sent folder and the email you wish to recall. Select the Move option and click on the Actions button. Choose Recall This Message. To completely delete the message from the recipient’s inbox, choose Delete Unread Copies of This Message. If you only need to make a quick change and then resend, choose Delete Unread Copies and Replace With a New Message. Then click the OK button, and all is right with the universe once again.
You can post and forward emails directly to Teams for your entire team to read. Just select the channel you’d like to post the email to, press the ellipsis icon, and choose to Get Email Address. Copy and paste this address into the email you’d like everyone in that channel to view, and it will populate to Teams. This is so quick compared to writing out individual staff email addresses and possibly missing someone (this can be especially awkward if they’re sitting across from you in the office!). From here, you can use Teams to have an open discussion about the email with everyone in the channel.
15. Give your group chat a relevant, unique title
Do you have multiple group chats in your history that are hard to distinguish? You can name each chat to make it easy to find later. Plus, you’ll remember exactly what you were talking about! To name your chat, select the pencil beside the chat members’ names and write in the desired title, such as ‘EOFY Meeting Prep’. You and the team members can then search this chat within teams using this title. If the chat is used frequently, or you know you’ll need it soon, another great Teams tip is to pin the chat so that it appears at the top of your chat bar. So, your conversations will sort into topics, with the most relevant ones to your current workload being the most accessible.
16. Use connectors to keep up to date
Connectors let you keep updated on your frequently-used programs that are separate from the Office 365 suite. Some popular connectors used in businesses are Twitter, Facebook, Bing News, and Trello, but there are so many more, too! Using connectors will stream information into your selected channels and populate it in your conversation tab. The result? A dynamic feed and an in-sync team.
When you’re in Microsoft Teams, add a connector, select the More Options, Connectors, and Choose Connectors. The available connectors will appear as a list. Add the ones you’d like to use in your channel. This is an integrative, user-friendly part of our Office 365 tips and tricks that you don’t want your workplace channels to miss out on.
17. Let Teams transcribe for you
Our most time saving yet underused, Teams tip is here! Teams can not only record team meetings but transcribe them for you, too (halleluiah!). The best part is that you can go back and transcribe past recordings now that you know this. To do this, open the recording and go to the Edit option. Under Video Language, select English, click Auto-generate a Caption File and then Apply. Next time you open a video, you’ll see a transcript of the meeting that has been created for you. This is just another example of how Teams can empower your business.
18. Create multiple libraries
Remember, there is no extra charge for additional document libraries on SharePoint. You might just be trying to avoid an overcrowded document library, but there are also other significant reasons to consider. Let’s take site and company security, for example. You may want documents to be on SharePoint and not a completely separate site, but want this group of documents viewed by a certain department — such as HR. Creating another library for this team’s documents is a great, streamlined solution. This library will able to view those with unique permissions to it.
19. Don’t spend money on a template
In 2019, your goal was most likely centred around creating a modern, up-to-date site. Our next bit of advice from our Office 365 tips and tricks is for anyone with this vision. Most SharePoint templates are frozen in time to keep the original look and feel of SharePoint. We doubt this is the style you envisioned for your 2019 website. Even more importantly, templates don’t have taxonomy (Team Store metadata has to be created and mapped separately) or built-in security (since the template cannot replicate security and permissions, you’ll end up having to put them in manually). Buying a template can be a huge time waster and make for a less efficient SharePoint experience. Plus, it’s an unnecessary expense. Sharepoint makes it so easy to create your own template, anyway!
Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive Tips
20. Add expiry links and passwords to sensitive files
If you want to share confidential information with a team member for a certain period, it’s beneficial to add an expiry link to your file. Expiry links allow you to add a date and time to the link you’re sharing; the link will not work after this period. To do this, select Share, Link Settings and Add Expiry Date. You can also add a password to your link when sharing sensitive information so that you’re sure only the person with your generated link and password can open the document. To add a password to your link, go to Share and Set Password. Once you’ve chosen a password, you’ll be able to copy the link and send it to your colleague — just let them know the password you set for the file.
Sometimes — even though the thought is terrifying — you may not be able to get internet coverage. Don’t worry; we have Office 365 tips and tricks for this very situation! Even though OneDrive for Business’s main purpose is to work from anywhere using the Cloud, it does offer a great measure in case you can’t connect — the Sync App. Once you’ve downloaded the app, sign in to Office 365, go to OneDrive, select the library you want to be able to access offline, then hit Sync. If needed, you can always pause or stop the syncing process. OneDrive for Business lets each user sync up to 20,000 files and folders, so Office 365 can access multiple projects offline.
22. Quickly save attachments to Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive
If you get emailed attachments, you can easily download them directly to OneDrive instead of saving them to your computer’s Downloads folder and scrambling to find them later. This is a great trick to save time and know exactly where your files are. To save all the documents attached in an email, select Save All to OneDrive. If you want a certain number of the attachments, you can click them individually and choose Save to OneDrive that way. From here, you can move the files within OneDrive. Another great OneDrive tip is that now you’ll even be able to send these on as Cloud attachments.
Windows is so commonplace that many of us don’t realize that it has special features that boost your computer’s speed. It streams media to multiple devices, share content with your family, and customise it to make it your own. Windows 10 has come a long way in the past 30 years, and the number of handy tricks may surprise you.
The start menu is a Windows classic. It’s easily accessible through the stylized Windows icon in the corner of your screen. Click on it, and you get a layout of your most-used programs, access to power options, and shortcuts to your file explorer and computer’s settings. Change the start menu’s appearance when you right-click on the icon instead. If you’re using a touchscreen, then touch the icon, hold it down for a second and then release
Alternatively, use a keyboard shortcut by hitting the Windows key. Right-clicking, the Start icon delivers a quick and clean menu. The access to programs is still there, but it also puts a lot more at your fingertips, including the Task Manager, Control Panel, Device Manager, and even the trusty Command Prompt. You can also access this advanced menu by hitting the Windows key + X.Get the Talking Tech newsletter in your inbox.
2. Windows 10 Disk Cleanup
Remember disk cleanup? It was a way to make your computer run faster when PCs had less RAM than they do today. Disk Cleanup fell by the wayside for most of us as PCs and laptops have become more sophisticated. But your computer could still use a de-bloating now and again.
Disk Cleanup is a simple way to delete files and to ensure your Recycle Bin is cleared out. On Windows 10, type “disk cleanup” into your taskbar where it says, “Type here to search” >> Click on Disk Cleanup app >> Put a checkmark next to each folder you want to be deleted, such as temporary files.
It’s more important than ever to have a multilayered approach to cybersecurity. Windows Defender is a security tool that can set up to block malware attacks in real-time, or you can perform a scan when you need it.
To make sure it’s on, type “Windows Defender” into your taskbar >> Select Windows Defender app >> Make sure Real-time protection is on.
4. Windows 10 Open Taskbar Quickly
Windows 10 brought with it a slew of new and convenient keyboard shortcuts. Take a look at the taskbar at the bottom of your screen where you have program icons lined up, most likely including your web browser and the Windows file explorer, among others. You can open those programs by hitting the Windows key and the number that corresponds to the location of the icon in the
Let’s say, from left to right, and you have the File Explorer folder icon, the multi-coloured round Chrome browser icon, and the blue “e” for Microsoft’s Edge browser. Hold down the Windows key and press “2,” and Chrome will open right up for you. It’s a quick way to access your most popular apps without reaching for your mouse.
5. Quick Assist
We all have that tech-challenged family member, don’t we? It might be your Aunt Sally in Boise, your best friend from high school or your book-smart but computer-novice dad.
That’s why there’s Quick Assist. In Windows 10, type “quick assist” into your taskbar >> Select Get Assistance or Give Assistance and then follow the onscreen instructions.
6. Windows 10 Video Streaming
If you’re like me, you probably don’t think about Windows 10 to stream videos on your TV. However, you can use compatible devices such as Roku and Xbox One S. Type “media streaming” into the Windows 10 taskbar >> Select Media Streaming Options and follow the instructions.
7. Shake Your Windows
Here’s a fun one. If you have stacks and stacks of windows open and want to declutter down to just one, do this. Click on the top bar of your desired window, hold it down, and shake the mouse to minimize all other open windows instantly. Please do it again to restore those windows.
8. Find Slow Programs
You’re working on your computer, but it’s dragging. You want to shout “Hurry up!” as you wait for tabs to switch or changes to take hold. It’s time to find out what’s slowing you down, so open up the Task Manager and check out the “Processes” tab. It will show you which apps and background processes are running and how much of your CPU, memory, disk and network resources they are each hogging up.
9. Windows 10 Task Manager
The Windows Task Manager was once a fairly straightforward feature, used mainly to force-quit an unresponsive program. The Windows 10 Task Manager is much more thorough. You can summon it through the right-click Start Menu or by hitting the traditional keyboard combination of Control-Alt-Delete and selecting it from the menu that appears.
When you open your regular Start Menu, you see a list of your apps running down the side. The most-used apps are on top, but the rest are laid out in alphabetical order. You could scroll through them all to find the one you want to open, but a quicker way to manage it is by clicking on any of the main letters (like “A”). This opens up a view of the entire alphabet. Just click on the first letter of the app you want, and Windows will take you directly to that part of the Start Menu.
11. Find Missing or Corrupted Files
Remember this: cmd. It’s a command prompt that can help you find files that your Windows operating system needs to work properly. It can also help you fix problems.
Type “cmd” into the taskbar >> Right-click on Command Prompt >> select Run As Administrator. To find missing or corrupted files, type “SFC /scan now.” To check for disk problems, type “chkdsk /f.”
12. Share Files
You and your family probably send each other files all the time. You might send a document or a video by email. A better way is to set up everyone in your house on a Windows network to share files.
You start by clicking on the Start button (the Windows icon on the lower-left side of your computer screen). Then, go to Settings (the little gear icon) >> Network & Internet >> HomeGroup >> Create a HomeGroup.
When your computer gets slow, access Task Manager and trim down the number of programs that load on startup. Click on the “Startup” tab, and you will see a list of all your programs, whether they’re enabled, and what sort of impact each one has on your startup.
Select a program and hit the “Disable” button to remove it from your start-up process. Scrutinize anything with a medium or high impact, but focus on programs you don’t use often.
If you find an app eating more than its fair share, then you can shut it down by selecting it and clicking “End task.” Be aware that you may lose work when you do this, so save first if you can.
